Friday Arts & Crafts: My Winter Pattern

I just recently designed this pattern. The inspiration came from traveling home this summer. It reminds me of Ukraine. I chose this combination of white outline against dark-grey background. It resulted in winter-ish motif. Adding some dots made it look like it is snowing.

Monday Style: Garance Doré

I am a huge fan of Garance Doré's style. Plus I love-love-love reading her stories! The way she speaks to her audience through illustration, photography and writing is eminently relatable and infectious.

This print she did in collaboration with Kate Spade, consists of everything I am super-interested in: fashion, interiors & illustration. You cannot go wrong with something that is three-in-one, can you?! (It is like having your favorite ice-cream with your best friend, while watching your favorite movie!) Maybe not the most perfect comparison... But going back to the print: it is so much fun, I want all of the outfits the little people on it are wearing! Even the striped shirt on the guy. Oh, and the details... like the famous Platner Table & Florence Knoll Lounge Chair, lighting fixtures, mirrors & artwork, champagne bottles & flutes, - all of that makes me want to hang out in that imaginary world of the stylish illustration Garance created!

Happy Monday to you all and Happy Style!

Letters From Home

It was way before Skype, when we used to write each other letters, my Mom would include a little surprise inside, something sentimental, something that meant so much to me. She would dry a flower or a leaf and place it between pages of a hand-written message, her beautiful cursive, nesting between each line, one-of-a-kind. Just like her writing, each plant would dry in its unique way.

The other day I re-discovered my little Herbarium collection in a long forgotten book. The red flowers belong to a plant that I believe may be a part of cactus family. It has long rose-like stems with thorns, and it blooms very often. Very colorful little flowers pop atop every stem, making it look very festive. I cannot recall its name.

The green leaves of Adiantum, that is commonly called maidenhair, are so delicate and pretty. It is one of my favorite indoors plants.

This beautiful artwork of blooming cacti by Lisa Rivas makes me smile.

Monday Style: Spectacular Retro Hats

Art Deco Weddings

I would like to begin this new week with a fresh inspiration from Behida Dolić. The beautiful clean lines of each hat are breathtaking. A modern take on Art Deco style, these high quality products are created following traditional guidelines of millinery.

Pencil No. 2 x 13,000

What a brilliant idea to use pencils as pegs attached to a pegboard! This visual display is one of the latest installations by Camp. I love the clean white texture that was achieved by using thousands of pencils to showcase various merchandise. So simple, yet very unique.

Vintage White Glaze

Today's inspiration came from Russian Tula Pryanik. These delicious honey cakes vary from bite-size to bread-loaf size, and go especially well with black tea. I have been enjoying them since I was little, fascinated by the different themes embossed on the face of each pryanik:

1. Terracotta Table Lamp from West Elm
2. Flap-Top Shoulder Hobo from Nancy Gonzalez Collection at Neiman Marcus
3. Hand-painted terracotta Hive Vase in White from West Elm
4. Tin Roof Switchplate from Anthropologie
5. Metropolitan Hook from Anthropologie
6. Bubbles Ceramic Side Table from West Elm
7. Brushed-White Wood Mirror from Neiman Marcus
