Shoehorn: A Beautiful Necessity

Every respectful shoe requires a shoehorn.
I came across this old piece walking through Blue Elephant. Made out of solid brass with a horse head as its handle it is not only useful, but also beautiful. I placed it by the entrance, where the shoes go on and off. A sucker for pretty objects, I admire how this piece adds old-world charm to our old-world house.
I suddenly feel very proper. My old shoehorn from Aldo is demoted to the mudroom.

Before & After: Salvaged Beauty

I found this silver-plated tray at a local thrift store and could not resist buying it for a total of $3.00. A little bit of Tarn-X magic brought it back to life. With its elegant lines and shiny finish the tray adds glamour to my bathroom.

Friday Arts & Crafts: How I Made My Pillow

Thanks to my wonderful teacher Tesni Stephen at the Visual Arts Center for teaching me all of the proper techniques and tricks. And to my classmates who were inspiring and made the experience so much fun! Also to my friend Juliet of Urban Nest
