Club Monaco: Online Shopping Is Here At Last!

I am so thrilled Club Monaco has finally made the online shopping available. This is a dream come true! Plus they offer free ground shipping & returns through the end of April.

The Shawna Polka-Dot Silk Shirt is on the top of my list for this spring. The neutral color is elegant & timeless, yet playful with its subtle pattern.

A Perfect Cup Of Latte, La Colombe Style

Oh! ..a perfect sip of a perfect latte! Fortunately, I only have to wait one more week before indulging in a cup of the best coffee in the world. Or two. Or three! At the original La Colombe on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, it is all about that. People make runs there not to just get caffeinated, but to enjoy a good conversation, get lost in their thoughts, while sipping on that perfectly-roasted and perfectly-brewed goodness. There is something magic in this place (I've been to a couple of others, and it just wasn't the same). The coffee simply tastes better here. The place attracts a certain kind of crowd, the one you feel a part of.

The selection is very straight forward: coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte. With or without milk (there are no soy or almond milk options, and don't even mention a flavored syrup.) It is all about purity & simplicity. The real deal, the sure thing. One size. Plus the freshly-baked croissants.

This week, an antique coffee truck is parked in front of La Colombe to make sure their fans are not going to run out of coffee while the shop is restoring their floors. How cool is that?

Thanks to my good friend Linda Hockenbury who took these two street photos yesterday!

Turns out, I have lots of photos of La Colombe coffee cups in my iPhone.

Monday Style: Garance Doré

I am a huge fan of Garance Doré's style. Plus I love-love-love reading her stories! The way she speaks to her audience through illustration, photography and writing is eminently relatable and infectious.

This print she did in collaboration with Kate Spade, consists of everything I am super-interested in: fashion, interiors & illustration. You cannot go wrong with something that is three-in-one, can you?! (It is like having your favorite ice-cream with your best friend, while watching your favorite movie!) Maybe not the most perfect comparison... But going back to the print: it is so much fun, I want all of the outfits the little people on it are wearing! Even the striped shirt on the guy. Oh, and the details... like the famous Platner Table & Florence Knoll Lounge Chair, lighting fixtures, mirrors & artwork, champagne bottles & flutes, - all of that makes me want to hang out in that imaginary world of the stylish illustration Garance created!

Happy Monday to you all and Happy Style!

Friday Arts & Crafts: Stenciled Apron & Kitchen Towel

After my first experience with fabric stenciling I shared a few months ago (see Pillow Coronation) I went forward with making more projects. I decided to make an apron and a kitchen towel. While I designed my own crown stencil for the pillow, this time around I used the design of roses offered in Lena Corwin's book Printing by Hand. I applied Procion MX Dye mixture in Brilliant Orange to a striped cotton/linen blend fabric (I'll share the formula if you are interested). I love the effect the layer of dye created on top of the already-striped fabric! Unexpected details, such as the checkered ribbon loop of the towel and the bright print of the waist band of the apron, made these pieces very unique.

Stay tuned for more projects I'll be sharing in the near future!
