The warmer it gets the more I gravitate towards simplicity & light. Little by little our house is shedding its deep decor colors, and lots of whites and neutrals are making their appearance. My closet, too, is getting reorganized. I push all of the cozy items to the back. I pull warm weather clothing out. I shop. I introduce more neutrals, more than ever before. I crave simple cotton and linen, some silk. I accessorize. I add metallics. I am ready, summer-ready!

Monday Style: Stripes

Happy Monday everyone! I am starting this new week with something I have been a huge fan of for as long as I remember: STRIPES. When worn thoughtfully, a nice stripe will flatter anyone. It will give confidence and bring a timeless touch to any ensemble. Just think of Coco Chanel who introduced the world of fashion to the famous horizontal striped shirt, traditionally worn by sailors and fishermen.

With the audacious direction in which our modern fashion is going I am especially thrilled to witness (and wear myself) mixed patterns; nowadays they are more acceptable than ever before! It has to be well edited and not overdone, but mixing stripe with plaid or florals, or even better - polka-dots, can look absolutely amazing. Just be mindful of scale.

Going back to plain old stripe, I simply love it and cannot get enough of it. This little selection I put together is just a small drop in the ocean of what the fashion industry offers today. Hope you enjoy it!

Monday Style: Fresh From Fiorentini + Baker SS 2012

Happy Monday! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I did enjoy mine, even though it was rainy and gray outside. I am starting to look forward to spring, in need of sunshine and warm weather. TREAT FOR YOUR FEET: I love the dark teal color of the Muse Nail Varnish from Illamasqua. The color is very pure, modern and unique, and it changes depending on the lighting. It looks absolutely beautiful on my toes with its high gloss finish. (Who would have thought the Teal is going to be called Modern again?)
FUN SHOES: Tack Room Heels will go along well with the funky teal on my toes.
BAGS DO NOT GET ANY CUTER: than the Sett & Reset Tote. All of the essentials will easily fit in this spacious bag. The pretty plaid pattern of the silk trimmed in leather is so much fun!

NBS: Fall 2011 Color Forcast

I have been saying it for years now: Navy is the new Black. I've said it with an eyeliner and a nail polish. I've wrapped my neck with a long navy-blue scarf that I got as a gift from Paris, even in a 90-degrees weather. I've stayed true to it with my wardrobe and those favorite Fiorentini+Baker boots you see me wearing all the time. It even effected the name of my blog!
There is no question: navy-blue is IN. These beautiful Midnight Meeting Oxfords below are a great number from the Anthropologie's fall collection.
I could not resist including this adorable In-The-Deep Bag. Best part is - it is on sale now and the price is right. And so is the color.

Best In Show II

Last Sunday I attended Spring Bada-Bing Craft Show organized by the Richmond Craft Mafia. It was hosted at Plant Zero and was a well-organized event, with thoughtfully selected local designers and craftsmen.

These crocheted dolls are absolutely charming.
