Monday Style: Guest Post: Summer Whites

It is Monday and I am super-excited to start this new week with a guest post by Suzonne Stirling of Urban Comfort. A professional stylist who's work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, Parents, Nick Jr., as well as other publications, Suzonne is a true master of her craft. She has a perfect eye for timeless, elegant and graceful style, and I am simply honored she agreed to put together this beautiful post for my readers. Thank you, Suzonne!!!

Hello readers of navyblueshoe! I was so flattered when invited to share a post here. So thank you to Olga for having me today!

I'm a huge fan of neutrals, and done right, I don't think they ever have to be boring. Take white, for instance. It's the perfect backdrop for summer, but it's hardly one-dimensional. Artfully layered, it takes on different personalities, from bright and fresh to subtle and moody. The key is to mix textures and tones, and I always like to throw in some elements from nature, natural foliage or wood, for balance. Fresh, simple, and just right for the season.

Monday Style: Summer-Ready

The warmer it gets the more I gravitate towards simplicity & light. Little by little our house is shedding its deep decor colors, and lots of whites and neutrals are making their appearance. My closet, too, is getting reorganized. I push all of the cozy items to the back. I pull warm weather clothing out. I shop. I introduce more neutrals, more than ever before. I crave simple cotton and linen, some silk. I accessorize. I add metallics. I am ready, summer-ready!

Monday Style: Spectacular Retro Hats

Art Deco Weddings

I would like to begin this new week with a fresh inspiration from Behida Dolić. The beautiful clean lines of each hat are breathtaking. A modern take on Art Deco style, these high quality products are created following traditional guidelines of millinery.

Brand-New Week: Home-Made Ribbons

This was a total experiment. I got this yellow raw silk awhile ago from a friend of mine. Not thrilled about the color, I decided I dip dye it using Indigo Blue color. It ended up transforming into this beautiful sea-foam green, almost turquoise color. Happy with the result, I decided to tear it into strips and use the ribbons to give my gifts a home-made touch.

I selected Liquitex Bright Aqua Green to hand-paint a memo on the package.

O Christmas Tree!

It's December 1 and it's time to get a Christmas tree! For starters, I arrange push-pins in shape of a tree on the bulletin board of my office:

Then I continue with the NBS banner, stacking the shoe, row after row, into a festive Christmas tree, trimmed with bright stars & golden bow:
