Top Ten

Have you ever selected a restaurant based on the shape of stemware it carried? You can call me crazy, but the reason I picked Noble to celebrate my birthday was based mostly on the unique tulip-shaped glasses they use to serve white wine. Getting out of my comfort zone I had to switch from my usual Cabernet Sauvignon to Sauvignon Blanc and order fish instead of meat. Turned out I made the right decision: the restaurant was a total hit and everything was just perfect. The sour-dough bread and home-made butter they bring upfront are to die for. The Beet and Blood Orange Salad is served on a bed of fresh herbs, and unlike every other restaurant has no goat cheese! Have I mentioned the Gnocchi Parisienne? They are utterly out of this world. Overall the portions are good size and ingredients are matched in an unexpected way in every course. The simple but tasteful interior makes one feel very comfortable. There is plenty of air for everyone, even when the bar is packed. The light bluish-grey walls, the warmth of the beautiful wooden staircase, the very tall ceilings and, most importantly, the lighting create a very intimate but open ambiance.
And while a Miles Davis tune was the playing in the background my mind kept coming back to those gorgeous wine glasses! I want to go back and drink more wine out of them! I am on a mission to purchase enough of them so I can use them at home on a regular basis. Such an elegant unforgettable shape can make one feel so special, almost noble (!). Check them out for yourself:
